 Last Drupa 2012 has undoubtedly proved that digital technology in the printing industry is urgently needed by almost every print shop. If four years ago, digital printing has recorded significant growth in commercial print, now is proved that it has become necessary technology in packaging and labeling.

Xeikon Color Control - a new way of printing spot colors

  Xeikon at Drupa introduced several innovations. Firstly it was Xeikon Color Control - the next level of optimization of colors. It is a new large-capacity tool that allows operators to Xeikon’s  machines repeatability of colors, as well as the best simulation of spot colors for labels and packaging applications using "cloud services," where adjustments to the personal computer is not necessary and it works on the basis of the application. In this way the user of Xeikon machine does not need to invest in additional equipment and he has always available the latest version of technology.
 

  Xeikon Color Control allows printers to differentiate their Xeikon machine and create a table of colors for specific colors. Measured values ​​are recorded in a central server, where it creates a new profile along with a  library of these colors. 
 All this is installed on the Xeikon X-800 Digital Front-End device, where they can be used in all subsequent operations. This allows users of Xeikon’s machines much more control over the output quality and control, and better comparing with the conventional, but printed, jobs. Moreover, the report quality, and an overview of stability in a production environment, it is available to everyone.

Xeikon innovation for partial varnishing

 The users of series 3000 machine for packaging printing long time were looking for solution of coating materials in certain places (partial varnishing). Specifically, certain points must, of the successive post press of certain information, remain unprotected – without varnish, while the remaining area must be protected from rubbing and scratching.

 

 The principle of this kind of varnishing at Xeikon was resolved on a way that at the last printing unit was installed very durable clear toner. A layer of such toner is printed in one pass with CMYK colors. After that, the printed material before next operations is exposed to UV light (like UV coating in offset printing)  to activate the properties of transparent durable toner.
